A REDDITCH businessman has been nominated for the nationally recognised award of ‘Business Dad of the Year’ by The Family Network UK.
James Wilkes owns Wilkes Window Cleaning & Guttering Services which he started several years ago.
He wanted more flexibility to work around his daughter Ella-Mai so being his own boss was ideal.
James said: “I always wanted to be a hands on dad, do the school run and be there for her so it worked out pretty well.
“I was nominated back in November when I received a email from The Family Network UK, it was a surprise to be honest I had to check them out on google for my own piece of mind as I have never been nominated for anything like this before in the business world.”
Then in January James received another email informing him that he had reached the final.
“As you can imagine I was so excited at this point, especially being in the top three of a national recognised award, I was more than happy to even be nominated for the award but to actually be in the top three makes me proud as it’s a fantastic achievement, even more so when I look back to where we started to be at this point now.
“Ella-Mai was the reason the business started, she’s the reason I have been nominated for this award, & she continues to my motivation in both business & as dad.”
The final awards evening is March the 5th.
