A LOCAL beautician has made it to the finals of the UK Hair and Beauty awards 2022 for best Gel Nails.
Abbie Brookes based at Aurora Beauty in Studley submitted photographs and video of her work to enter the competition, as well as an extensive questionnaire about yourself and your business.
The next round will be in January when the winners are announced and the top 50.
She said: “It means so much to me to even be recognised for this award as I have worked so so hard on my nail techniques.
“I started my training in 2018 and fell pregnant with my little boy in 2019, he was due in 2020 but was born 10 week premature in December 2019.
“While on maternity leave I practiced and improved my skills by attending extra training sessions and watching Instagram videos and YouTube videos.
Abbie has now been working in the beauty world for two years.
“It’s the best thing I have ever done, I absolutely adore my job.
“Making people feel good about themselves is the most important to me.
“It can be as simple as a splash of colour in a gel polish manicure or a client that has managed to grow their bitten nails to extensions length.
“It has really given me the boost to take my business to higher places.”
