Local author hopes to get her children's book in all Redditch schools - but she needs your help

A CHILDREN’S book on Redditch history has been made available to read online for free by local author Anne Bradford.

‘The Illustrated Guide To Redditch History’, over 276 pages, explains how the town came to be what it is today.

Topics include the origin of the town, its move into the needle industry and then finally the big change when the new town was built.

Anne is eager to donate one physical copy of the book to every first and middle school in Redditch.

But whilst it’s free online, it will cost a substantial amount to print hardback copies.

Derek Coombes of Redditch Local History Society, said: “I helped Anne complete the book and I am now looking for ways that we can fulfill her wish.

“We have a small amount of money already, but to do this we do need more.

“We are therefore planning a limited edition print run of the book so that we can sell some of them to finance the schools donation copies.

“What we are looking for are thirty people willing to commit to purchasing a copy of the limited run for £25 per copy.”

For every book purchased a copy will be donated to a local school.

You can contact Derek by emailing [email protected] or by sending him a direct message on Facebook.
