A REDDITCH based ex-serviceman turned artist has hand delivered his portrait of the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the Ukrainian embassy in London.

Popular artist Kevin Wills from Oakenshaw has made quite a stir in the past with his portraits of Captain Sir Thomas Moore and his project painting the fallen in Afghanistan.

But his latest venture holds a lot of meaning for the artist.

“As an ex-serviceman, supporting veteran causes is very important to me. I wanted to pay tribute to President Zelenskyy and his leadership throughout the conflict.

“The portrait represents an inspirational leader and a remarkable president for what was to become some very dark days across Ukraine.”

Kevin was able to contact the embassy with the help of Stewart Henderson BEM.

“He added: “Stewart works with the police close protection in London, and helped me organise getting the portrait to the the embassy.

“We both have a passion for helping veterans and veterans causes in various ways so it was great that he was able to help me with this project.”

He was greeted by Ukrainian residents Olga Oliinyk, Oleg Oliynyk, Nataliya Yurchenko and James Miller, who said they loved the painting.

“The portrait now hangs in the embassy, and I’m really proud of it.”

Kevin has also painted another portrait of President Zelenskyy and is hoping to auction it off to raise funds for Ukraine.
