Redditch Editorial 23rd Feb, 2019   0

THE latest figures for Redditch show unemployment in the town has increased by 149 to 1,586 people in receipt of Universal Credit.

Those aged 18 to 24 and out of work has also increased to 288 – a rise of 71 over the previous month.

Despite this, Redditch shows an employment figure of 82.7 per cent – a proportion the Department of Work and Pensions would classify as ‘full employment’.

By comparison, Bromsgrove has a figure of 73.7 per cent and Worcester 78.8 per cent.

The local Job Centre is continuing its efforts to find work for even more people with a number of vacancies available in the Prison Service, with the NHS, Warner Leisure Hotels and KFC who opened a new outlet in the town this week.

On April 17 in conjunction with Redditch Library, the Job Centre is holding a Young Persons Career and Jobs event giving young people tips on how to enter the world of work.
