'Last man standing' Steve to re-open in the Kingfisher Centre

THE self-styled ‘last man standing’ of Redditch outdoor market has forsaken his van and moved into the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

Steve Jarvis has been cutting keys and etching dog tags for more than nine years in the space at the back of Redditch Library and says there’s been a someone there for more than 33 years carrying out the same trade.

However with the bulk of the outdoor market moving indoors it was time to join them, he said.

“The market’s swapped from the council running it to Sketts and now it’s gone into the Kingfisher Shopping Centre,” said Steve.

“I’m what you might call the last man standing out of the old market.

“Since Covid, well, business has gone downhill and I’m hoping all my regular customers and a few more will find me inside the Kingfisher and I can start building things back up again.

“I’ve got a bigger unit, stocking more things and it would be really good to get things going.”

Steve pulled the shutters down on Tuesday and re-opens in the Kingfisher this Monday, July 26, close to Sports Direct in the Kingfisher.
