VOLUNTEERS joined members of Redditch Labour party at St Andrews Church in Church Hill to cook and deliver more than 250 hot dinners for its annual Christmas Eve Meal initiative.

Organiser Councillor Joe Baker said: “This is our ninth year now and each year we do more meals.

“This is only possible with the help of everyone involved who volunteer their time, plus a massive thanks to Bev from Morrisons, Alex and St Andrews Church and also to the Redditch Wiccan School who raised the funds to pay for the event.

“I am proud to be part of all of this and I hope everyone had a safe and merry Christmas with a blessed new year to come.”

Leader of Redditch Labour group, Coun Bill Hartnett, added: “We were joined by more than 20 volunteers who helped with the preparation, peeling, chopping, cooking, boxing and delivering of the hot meals.

“I do believe the true spirit of Christmas is alive here in Redditch with more people this year rolling up their sleeves and joining in to help those in need on our community.”
