THE latest Key Stage 2 results show 60% of primary schools in Redditch have seen an increase in the number of pupils achieving the standard in reading, writing and mathematics.

Two of the most improved schools included Birchensale Middle School, which has seen the proportion of its pupils achieving the expected standard increasing from 57% in 2017 to 71% in 2018.

St Bede’s Catholic Middle School also saw their percentage shoot up from 55% in 2017 to 68% in 2018.

Redditch MP Rachel Maclean said: “Rachel said: “Every child, no matter their background, deserves a great education, and that’s certainly happening in Redditch thanks to our first-class teachers and outstanding schools.

“Congratulations to our schools who have seen an increase in the number of pupils achieving the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics at Key Stage 2.

“One of my favourite parts of the job is talking to children and young people and I’m looking forward to visiting these schools once again to pass on my congrats in person.”
