Inspirational Redditch parents are BHF heart heroes

A PAIR of Redditch heart heroes have been recognised for their tireless work making the community a safer place.

Rob and Maggie Underwood, founders of the Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation (CCSHF), were invited to the British Heart Foundation Heart Heroes Awards on Wednesday, where they were deemed the worthy winners of the Inspiration Award.

The Underwoods set up the CCSHF after tragically losing two of their children to rare heart conditions – Charlotte Marie in December 2010 and Craig in December 2013.

Since starting the charity, the duo consistently fund-raise and aim to educate communities throughout the county about heart-health as well as campaign to install community access defibrillators in the Redditch and Bromsgrove areas.

The Inspiration Award is given to those who involve and inspire others in the fight for every heartbeat, whether through their fundraising efforts, physical challenges, events or volunteering activities.

Rob said: “There are some really amazing people out there who go above and beyond to help save a life, and hearing their stories at the ceremony was heart breaking, but also amazing.

“To all those who kindly voted for us, we will be eternally grateful.

“This really does mean so much to us and we are truly humbled. This is all for Charlotte and Craig as they are the inspiration – without them, we would not be doing what we do.”
