THE ladies of the Inner Wheel Club of Redditch have seen a prosperous end to 2019 raising a bumper sum for Cancer Research UK with a particular focus on childhood brain tumours.
The cash box started to fill back in October when a quiz night with maestro Noel Pritchard asking the questions raised more than £600 for the charity.
A fun night for was had by all, the ladies providing a sumptuous feast of goodies and the winning team walking away with bottles of wine.
A month later they were at it again, the ladies from Redditch triumphing in a quiz organised by the Conservative Club of Alcester, raising a further £200 for the kitty.
And the money has continued to roll in, a coffee morning in December with Christmas stalls, a sales table, tombola, cakes, plants, tea towels, jewellery and more pulling in a host of people.
The result was a staggering £1,300 raised on the day for the charity – with donations continuing to roll in.
The Inner wheel ended on December 13 with an execellent Christmas meal at Redditch Golf Club with entertainment provided by local singing duo Remini.
Unable to stop themselves fundraising, the ladies raised a further £300 towards their own ‘home’ charities.
The year 2020 marks the club’s 65th anniversary and lots of events combining good fun for good causes are planned.
