Improvements will shed light on town

Redditch Editorial 26th Feb, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

STREET light improvements will be taking place in Batchley next week.

Residents on Foxlydiate Crescent and Hawthorne Road will be getting new street lighting to replace the current sodium ones.

Redditch Borough Council is working with Worcestershire County Council to install the new LED fittings which use less energy but provide improved lighting.

The replacement work takes place from Wednesday (March 4) to Monday, March 16, which will include some disruption to accessing properties.

Guy Revans, head of environmental services for the borough council, said: “Some residents have already contacted the council about the failing lights in this area so I am really pleased that we are replacing them with LEDs.

“Not only will this mean we’ll be helping the environment and saving money in the long run, it also, and more importantly, means residents in the area can feel safer and more secure in their homes.”

Worcestershire County Council will be undertaking the work on behalf of Redditch Borough Council. Contact Matthew Mead on 01527 64252 for more information.
