Hunt is on to find a taxi firm happy to run a shuttle for GlastonBeoley

THE hunt is on to find a taxi firm happy to run a a shuttle service to and from the new home for Redditch’s fantastic fundraising music festival GlastonBeoley.

The growing success of the festival – which this year will stretch over two days – has meant it has outgrown its Beoley home, sparking a move up the A435 to Bees Rugby Club at The Portway.

Not only will there be room there for festival goers wanting to camp overnight but the clubhouse also features, showers, toilets and bar while there will be hard standing parking for those who want to drive there.

“For months and months I’ve been trying to find somewhere in Beoley but farmers have fields for a reason and the last thing they can do is afford to let us have one at the beginning of summer,” said Debbie Joynes of the festival organisers.

“I’d contacted the Bees earlier and it turned out they’d been thinking along the same lines and so when I got in touch with them again they said ‘yes, let’s do it’ and so I’m really chuffed.”

Last year GlastonBeoley raised an incredible £14,000 for good causes, smashing the previous year’s £10,000 mark.

All the bands play for free and it means all the money raised from fundraising and ticket prizes go directly to the charities, which this year are Noah’s Star, Redditch Night Stop, Redditch Baby Bank and Special Olympics Redditch.

“With a huge space for stages, food vendors and a bar, a children’s area and a festival market, as well as a large hardstanding area for parking and a separate field next to the festival field for camping, it is truly ideal,” said Debbie.

“And we are hoping to uplift the festival experience by making it a two day event and having all these additional features.”

She’s now hoping to find a local taxi firm to provide a shuttle service for a fixed rate so that those festival-goers not wishing to camp overnight can budget to enjoy a drink as well as the music.

“This would not only benefit our audiences but the taxi firm too, so it would be great if a company could get in touch,” she added.
