HUNDREDS of people were evacuated from the Kingfisher Shopping Centre this afternoon after the building’s fire alarm was triggered.
The fire service arrived at the scene at around 2pm to investigate an incident at one of the stores inside.
Shopper Harriet Brown, aged 20, said: “It was worrying because in some parts of the Kingfisher the alarm couldn’t be heard.
“I wasn’t scared but other people were panicking.”
A spokesperson for the Kingfisher said: “The incident has been dealt with and everyone has been allowed back inside.
“The Shopping Centre is now back open.”
