Hoping to harvest a festival of fun

NHS STAFF will be recognised for their hard work as part of a harvest-themed bandstand event.

The last of the monthly summer events held on Church Green will take place next Saturday (September 13) to celebrate NHS Staff Appreciation Week as well as the town’s 50th celebrations.

Residents and visitors will be entertained from 11.45am until 4pm where food, live music, dancing and performances from around the world will be on offer.

Community stalls, family activities, face-painting and a So Redditch Passport lucky dip with a prize of £500 will also take place.

In line with the Harvest theme there will also be a collection point for local food banks where residents can donate non-perishable food items.

Coun Bill Hartnett, leader of Redditch Borough Council, said: “As autumn sets in many of us forget to celebrate the harvest time and think about some of the people who do not have enough to eat, many of whom are much closer to home than you may think.

“Malnutrition does of course go hand-in-hand with needing care and support from the NHS so it is fantastic that we can hold this event in line with NHS appreciation week.

“Whilst the message is serious, this event is all about having fun and celebrating, so come on down to the bandstand finale for a fun filled afternoon.”
