The leak, outside Greenlands Business Park, has sent water surging up through the ground and across the road causing a deal of flooding.

Police warning signs are up and a traffic light system is in operation.

A spokesperson for Severn Trent said: “Customers in the Redditch area may be without water or have lower water pressure than normal this morning. We have a burst water pipe on Studley Road.

“Our teams are currently on site and are working hard to get this resolved and get the water back on as soon as possible. . We’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused by this and thank you for your patience.”

Please note: This report replaces earlier stories which wrongly located the leak on the Redditch Road and in Studley.

This was due to the Redditch Standard being misinformed and we apologise both to Severn Trent and to readers.
