History in the making: Girl Guides bury time capsule at Redditch housing site

Redditch Editorial 4th Apr, 2018   0

RAINBOWS, Brownies and Guides from Redditch have buried a time capsule at a new housing development.

David Wilson Homes invited the girls to its new development, Abbey Gate on Nine Days Lane, to leave their memories in the ground for years to come as part of the 100th anniversary of Girlguiding in Redditch.

The group filled the capsule with a variety of items to represent the local area as well as their Rainbows, Brownies and Guides units.

Sarah Hill, Redditch Division Commissioner at Girlguiding Redditch, said: “Girlguiding Redditch is commemorating its centenary with the burial of a time capsule at the David Wilson Homes Abbey Gate development.

“Messages and Girlguiding memorabilia have been collated from the 28 units across Redditch including Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section for future generations.

“Currently one of our biggest challenges within the division is to increase the number of our fantastic volunteers to accommodate the increasing demand of girls wishing to join our units.”
