Her first response was yes

A COUPLE who met while looking after a man who collapsed in the town’s shopping centre are set to get married.

Kelly O’Brien and Dave Tew first saw each other while helping a man who had collapsed outside a jewellers shop in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

Miss O’Brien was the shop manager at the time and Mr Tew was a security officer for the centre as well as a Community First Responder.

After coming to the man’s aid, Miss O’Brien asked Mr Tew for some first-aid training and decided to become a responder herself.

And four years later, after accepting his proposal on her birthday, the pair are set to get married next year.

Mr Tew, who is also the co-ordinator of the Redditch CRF scheme, said: “We will both carry on as Community First Responders. Kelly now helps me run the scheme.

“Next year we will be a husband-and-wife team in charge of the team.”
