Help yourself: Rees Cafe in Redditch in winter coat giveaway to the needy

Redditch Editorial 2nd Dec, 2018   0

WINTER coats are being given away free to the needy from Rees Community Cafe in Church Road, Redditch, writes Demi Moore.

Cafe manager Polly Jones has taken the initiative as she believes no one should be without a coat as temperatures plummet.

The coats, donated by members of the public, have been put on a rail in the Church Road cafe’s foyer.

Those who are able to donate a coat are welcome to drop them off at the cafe or place them on the rail on their way in.

The coats are available for anyone in need.

So far, the cafe has had a tremendous response from the public with lots of support coming in from local residents.

Rees Community Cafe and Shop is a working Cafe but offers specific services for care leavers and those involved in the care system.

Polly said: “We want to take away a cost from someone by offering the free coats.

“Anyone is welcome to come and get one for themselves, their children or to give to someone in need and anyone is welcome to donate.”

To support the cause, six members of Halifax Bank are volunteering their time to help out as part of their policy to help the community.

Rees Community Cafe and shop is open from 9.30am to 2pm Monday to Saturday.
