PEOPLE are being encouraged to talk to their pharmacist if they need help and advice managing minor health conditions this winter.
This week, as part of the ‘Help Us Help You’ initiative, a new campaign has been launched across Worcestershire to raise awareness that pharmacists are also qualified healthcare professionals, who can offer advice to help manage a range of minor health conditions.
Pharmacists are trained to help people treat themselves for conditions such as colds, flu, stomach bugs and aches and pains, which can be especially prevalent when the temperature drops.
Most minor conditions can be treated at home, say local doctors and the pharmacist can provide people with the support they need to help get them back on their feet as soon as possible.
Additional benefits can include medicines reviews to ensure people are taking the right medication at the right time, the use of private consulting rooms and healthy living advice.
Pharmacies also offer services such as flu jabs and testing for common conditions like high/low blood pressure and diabetes.
