RESIDENTS struggling with arthritis can learn to live a less painful life with the help of four new groups in Redditch and Bromsgrove.

The two councils’ Sports Development Team have managed to secure Sport England funding to set up four new groups in partnership with Escape pain. Escape pain is a rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain that integrates educational self-management and coping strategies with an exercise regimen.

Escape pain can: Reduce pain; improve physical function; improve the psycho-social consequences of pain and reduce healthcare costs.

Hayley Gwilliam, health intervention officer, said: “Living with pain can be really debilitating and sometimes costly.”

The groups will be taking place at community venues in both areas. To find out more, ring the team on 01527 881404 or email [email protected].
