A HANDBAG was among items stolen from an Astwood Bank home while the resident slept.
Thieves entered the Evesham Road house through an unlocked front door on Thursday night (May 8).
It is believed they took a set of keys for the separate garage and a handbag from the hallway.
They then went into the garage and stole a motorcycle lock, along with vehicle keys although no vehicles were taken.
Det Con Mark Lazenby of West Mercia Police said a fifth of burglaries happened through unlocked doors or windows, often while homes are occupied.
“Summer will soon be here and it is imperative householders lock doors and ground floor or easily accessible windows.
“Burglars are opportunists and would much rather simply open a door and walk in to a house, rather than risk being seen or heard breaking in.”
Witnesses or anyone with any information should contact DC Lazenby in the Redditch Burglary Team on 101 quoting incident 94-s-090514 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
