Grateful Alex serves up the perfect thank you to hospital staff

STAFF at the Alexandra Hospital will be raising a cuppa to Redditch resident Alex Fogg who has raised nearly £2,000 to buy them hot drinks.

Keen sportsman Alex was injured playing football and ended up in the Woodrow Drive hospital for a knee operation three months ago.

“The service was absolutely fantastic and I wanted to give something back to the staff,” said Alex.

“I spoke to the matron on the ward and she said the best thing to do was to buy some tea and coffee, and being ex-military I knew a cup of something goes a long way.”

Alex launched a Just Giving page and was astounded at the result.

“More than a 100 people donated including local businesses and charities which allowed us to provide the staff in every department with large morale boosting packages,” he said.

Among them was a large contribution from Nestle and Alex was able to buy the beverages at a discounted price too.

“The bulk of the donations were small contributions from people and the over-riding message from them that they are just so thankful for the hospital and everyone in it,” said Alex.

“And I just want to say thank you to everyone who contributed and to the staff for the wonderful job they are doing.”
