CHILDREN from a Redditch school joined a choir almost 6,500 strong for a showstopping performance at the Genting Arena, Birmingham.
On January 10, 40 Key Stage 2 pupils from The Vaynor First School spent the day rehearsing with the rest of the Young Voices choir at the international standard venue before the doors opened at 7pm to an audience of thousands.
Songs such as ‘Africa’ by Toto and ‘Human’ by Rag ‘n’ Bone Man were performed alongside acts like street dance specialists, Urban Strides and 16-year-old YouTube sensation, Alfie Sheard.
The Vaynor children had been rehearsing for an hour a week for four months before the big day.
Their music coordinator Claire Turton said: “The Vaynor children really enjoyed this opportunity and would recommend it to anyone who loves to sing.
“They can now all say they have sung at the Genting Arena in front of thousands of people – an amazing night and a memory that will stay with them for a long, long time.”
