THE Community Champion for Morrison’s supermarket in Redditch is certainly making an impact in the local community.

Bev Allington took on the role last year and has made extraordinary efforts to make a difference.

Having organised donations of food during the current Covid-19 pandemic she recently persuaded colleagues, borough councillors and local residents to form a community clean team help in a litter blitz in Matchborough.

And news travels fast because Bev’s community work has come to the attention of the Lord Lieutenant Of Worcestershire Lt Col Patrick Holcroft LVO OBE CStJ who sent her a personal letter of thanks for services to the people of Redditch in the pandemic.

Speaking after this latest clean up, Bev said: “I got the inspiration for this community clean up from four year old Matchborough resident Jacob Alford who has been a dedicated litter picker for two years.

“Here at Morrison’s we want to encourage people to give back to the community and support our home town of Redditch to achieve a healthier green environment.”

Local Councillor,Juliet Brunner who joined the clean up team said: “ Bev epitomises the phrase ‘Community Champion’!

“I was delighted to help and support her and Matchborough certainly looks much better for all our efforts.”
