Four from Slovakia and Czech Republic arrested in Redditch drug factory raid

Redditch Editorial 3rd Aug, 2018   0

FOUR people have been arrested on suspicion of drugs offences in Redditch after information was passed to officers regarding an illegal drug facility in the town.

In raids carried out on Friday, July 27, a methamphetamine laboratory was discovered, along with a quantity of illegal drugs.

Two men from Slovakia, a 37-year-old and a 26-year-old, and a 30-year-old woman from the Czech Republic have all been released under investigation.

Another 37-year-old Slovakian male has been released on police bail.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service assisted police in making the area safe due to concerns over the chemicals found and the risk of contamination.

Officers from Europol also attended, alongside Redditch Borough Council who supported the operation to ensure the area was safe for residents.

Detective Inspector Justin Taylor said: ”This was a multi-agency approach to tackle an organised crime group, in response to concerns raised by residents.

”I would like to thank those who contacted us, and take this opportunity to emphasise that we always welcome information from members of the public who have concerns that there could be illegal activity in their neighbourhoods.

”Even if it turns out they are wrong, if we know about it, we can check it out.”

To report concerns about drugs or drug dealing in your local area, please contact West Mercia Police on 101.

If it is an emergency and a crime is taking place always ring 999.
