Eyes right for Armed Forces Day as Redditch gets ready to pay its respects

Redditch Editorial 22nd Jun, 2019   0

THE Mayor of Redditch Councillor Roger Bennett will help to fly the flag at Redditch Town Hall on Monday, June 24, in the run up to Armed Forces Day.

A short speech will be read and then special commemorative flag will fly all week as part of a national initiative raising awareness of the role of the Armed Forces, leading up to Armed Forces day on Saturday, June 29.

Members of the Royal British Legion will also join the Mayor during the ceremony, which will take place at 10am sharp.

Coun Bennett said: “Once again we will pay our respects to the people of Redditch past and present who have served in our armed forces.

“This is an issue that will always be close to my heart, as my son is an ex-soldier having served 22 years, and I will be proud to raise the flag in honour of the work they all do to keep us safe.”
