Eurovision unplugged as UK's brilliant SuRie plays Palace Theatre

BRITAIN’S brilliant and unflappable Eurovision Song contestant SuRie is coming to the Palace Theatre.

The 29-year-old refused to be fazed in front of a global audience of millions as a stage invader snatched the microphone from her hand during the live television performance of her song ‘Storm’ in Lisbon on Saturday.

The singer was forced to clap along to the song for at least 10 seconds after the man, in jeans with a bandana on his head, grabbed the microphone as television cameras switched to views of the audience.

The invader was rushed by security guards and taken from the stage and when SuRie was back on the mike in true trouper style she carried on with the song and finished it to thunderous applause.

The European Broadcast Union, which organises the contest offered her the opportunity to sing again but SuRie and her team decided they were so proud of her performance that there was no need to let her perform the song again.

She went on to finish 24th out of 26 entries with Israel emerging as the eventual winner.

Now SuRie is to appear live on stage at the Palace Theatre in Redfditch on Sunday, May 27, though hopefully this time round there will be no intruders crashing the performance.

For this concert the star and her band will perform a set of past and current Eurovision winners and hits, in the singer-songwriter style she feels so at home with – unplugged.

The set list includes an acoustic set of timeless songs, ranging from Abba to Johnny Logan, and Katrina and the Waves as well as the mellow piano/vocal settings of her own songs.

Tickets are available now in person or at the box office on 01527 65203 priced at £22 or online at www.redditchpalacetheatre.co.uk
