Editor's comment: Number of Covid deaths more than Redditch, Studley and Alcester combined

Ross Crawford 30th Jan, 2021

IT’S a terrifying and sobering thought that the number of fatalities nationwide from Covid-19 is now equivalent to more than the total population of Redditch, Studley and Alcester combined – and going up all the time.

The current Covid infection rate in Redditch is 657 per 100,000 with a noticeable spike in the number of over 60s – the most vulnerable group.

There maybe elements muttering about a possible easing of lockdown, but with the current death toll and the pressure on our NHS, this would surely let the virus back in.
