Dormer Hire of Headless Cross set to move to larger premises after 30 years

DORMER Hire of Headless Cross is moving to new and larger premises after more than 30 years in its familiar base on Evesham Road.

The business, which is owned by Matt Dormer, the leader of Redditch Borough Council and a Watch Commander at Redditch Fire Station, has bought Premier House in Hewell Road to house its plant and tool hire business.

The business was launched more than 30 years ago and has been a well-known name in the town ever since.

The new property will also accommodate Frank Hedges Ground Care Ltd, a Bromsgrove-based garden equipment sales and repair business that Mr Dormer has acquired.

He said: “We had been outgrowing our former premises for the past ten years, and with the acquisition of the Bromsgrove garden equipment business, it made even more sense to seek out our own premises where we could consolidate our current growth and cater for further expansion.”

He added that the move was likely to create at least two jobs in the short term, with potentially more to come later this year.

The 15,160 sq ft building has been purchased for £575,000.

Premier House was sold by John Truslove on behalf of Mobility Group Ltd who have relocated to an 80,000 sq ft unit on Padgets Lane, South Moons Moat, Redditch, in a deal also arranged by John Truslove.
