Determined Redditch boy, 7, runs unbelievable marathon for Comic Relief

A DETERMINED seven-year-old boy from Redditch has ran an unbelievable marathon for Comic Relief.

Bobby Thomas racked up the brilliant 26.2-mileage over the course of seven days – raising more than £600 for the famous charity.

It all started when children at Webheath Academy were encouraged to raise as much as they could for Comic Relief.

Teachers suggested baking or other types of sponsorship, but Bobby, who is in year two, set himself the tough challenge of running three to four miles every day after school.

The active lad, who enjoys football, swimming and keeping on top of his fitness, even ran a staggering five miles during one of the afternoons.

His sponsorship money alone beat the Downsell Road school’s £500 target by some way.

Proud mum Rebecca said: “On one of the three-mile runs he had a blister and was crying but he never gave up.

“Bobby is really into his fitness, he’s always working out.

“He’s been on the odd run with his dad before but never anything as challenging as this.

“He doesn’t just sit on the PlayStation all the time, he’s very active, always on the go.

“We’re so proud of him.”

Rebecca added that his family have bought Bobby a gift for his achievements.

“We want to say thank you to everyone, including Bobby’s teachers, who have donated so far,” she said.
