Derelict Co-op site prompts parish council to fire off letter of complaint

THE slipping timetable over the sale of derelict land owned by the Co-op in Studley has prompted the parish council to fire off a letter of complaint at the delay.

According to a timetable agreed by Stratford District Council and the Co-op the eyesore site, facing Priory Square, should have been sold by now and development started.

However since the land was put on the market in the summer no further action has been taken.

Stratford had hinted at taking out a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) if no progress was made but district chiefs have been silent on the issue.

“We need to write to Stratford and say, ‘this is what you promised, this is in the minutes and why are you no further forward,” said parish chair Councillor Sue Redman.

Councillors backed the proposal and also agreed to copy in the council officer dealing with the issue and local MP Nadhim Zahawi.
