DEBENHAMS in Redditch remains safe for now despite 19 other stores across the country set to close this month.
Retail bosses announced the list of full closures earlier today, which includes branches in Wolverhampton and The Fort in Birmingham.
The news comes as the department store chain, which entered administration in April 2019 and officially launched its CVA later that same month, faced speculations that it could shut down 20 stores after the Christmas period.
Staff member Sharice Zwirn, aged 23, who works at the Wolverhampton store which opened in late 2017, said: “As a part-time employee I’m only slightly affected.
“But for those who rely on Debenhams for their livelihood it’s a real shame.
“It was a great place to work and a lot of friendships were made there.
“In a sense we were a small retail family.”
