A HIT and run is suspected after a cyclist was found in a serious condition by his badly damaged bicycle on A422 Arrow Lane between Cookhill and Alcester.

The cyclist, believed to be in his 70s, was found at about 1.45pm on Monday, July 1 and was airlifted to hospital.

Two ambulances, a community first responder, the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and two paramedic officers were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The man, estimated to be in his 70s was assessed and treated at the scene for potentially life threatening injuries before being airlifted to the major trauma centre at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”

One local man said: “I was going down to Alcester at about 2.45pm and the Police had blocked the road off.

“It’s a very twisty road and the speed limit is 50mph but that doesn’t stop drivers from flying down it.”
