CHURCH Green East has a smart new business on the pedestrian thoroughfare with the opening of a brand new barber shop.
Redditch Cutting Lounge has taken over the former offices of estate agent Right Move, and on hand to officially cut the ribbon Councillor Matt Dormer, the Leader of Redditch Borough Council.
The barbershop is a joint venture between good friends Tom Warrilow and barber Jack Aston, who’ll be wielding the clippers.
“Me and Jack thought we’d set up the shop,” said Tom.
“With Covid-19 Jack was stuck for work and said we could open a shop together and so we sat down and worked it all out.
“I did all the back office stuff and got the place refurbished as it was derelict.
“We’ve taken over the whole building and the plan is to turn the upstairs into self-contained office lets so we’re also helping to renovate the whole area.”
The next step was to get hold of Coun Dormer, who was happy to give the venture his blessing.
“I wish them every success,” he said.
“I’m all for encouraging local independents and it’s nice to see people starting up at a time like this.
“I truly believe the more positive we are the faster we can recover from this pandemic.”
