Crash course in CPR as Rachel Maclean steps up campaign for schools

REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean underwent CPR training with Rob Underwood, founder of Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation last week.

“First of all I want to say a huge thank you to Rob for taking the time to hold the session for myself and my team,” said Mrs Maclean.

“I’ve trained in CPR before but it’s always useful to refresh my skills and knowledge.”

Mrs Maclean recently teamed up with Rob and Maggie Underwood to launch a campaign to get first aid and CPR training on the school curriculum.

They agreed that there needs to be pressure put on Parliament to introduce first aid and CPR training in all state-funded schools.

A UK-wide Parliamentary petition calling for exactly that, was launched on October 23.

Mrs Maclean said: “In countries where CPR is taught in schools, survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrests are up to three times as high.

“This is a stark reminder that, if CPR was taught in schools here in the UK, more people would survive cardiac arrests.

“This is why I hope you’ll join me, Rob and Maggie Underwood in signing our Parliamentary petition to get first aid and CPR training on the school curriculum.

“Thank you to everyone who has already signed it because this isn’t about politics, this is about saving lives.”
