County chiefs take to the road in drive to tackle climate change

Redditch Editorial 16th Oct, 2019   0

A SERIES of roadshows have been launched by Warwickshire County Council to get peoples’ views on tackling climate change.

The county declared a climate emergency in July and climate change will form a big part of its next five year plan.

The roadshows come against a background of growing concern about the environment, cuts in central government grants and the need to keep the local economy vibrant.

Steps have already been taken and the authority has been using green energy for the past three years for its operations which means it is able to report zero emissions of carbon dioxide.

The county is also reviewing the investment strategy of its pension fund to reflect the growing concern over climate change.

The closest roadshow to Alcester and Studley will be at Morrisons Supermarket, Alcester Road, Stratford, from 10.30am to 12.30pm on Thursday, October 24.
