THE Leader of Stratford District Council Chris Saint has resigned from the top job.

Councillor Saint has been a district councillor for 20 years and Leader of the Conservative Group and the authority for the past seven years.

He was first elected onto the district in 1998 for the Tredington ward and has been instrumental in the adoption of the Planning Core Strategy, successfully helped steer the authority’s recent positive Peer Review and leaves the district in a strong financial position.

“It has been a privilege to have been given the opportunity to serve as Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council,” he said.

“Despite the changing and challenging local government landscape in recent years I have enjoyed playing my part and found it hugely rewarding.

“None of what I have achieved as Leader has been achieved alone.

“I have been incredibly lucky to have a team of talented councillor colleagues and a set of dedicated council officers alongside me.”

Coun Saint represent the Tredington ward until May 7, 2015, when following a boundary review he was elected to the new Shipston North ward at the May 2015 elections.
