CHILDREN at Holly Trees Day Nursery have been taking part in Australian-themed activities this week to celebrate life down under.
The Redditch nursery is preparing for Australia Day on January 26 by teaching its children what life is like on the other side of the world.
They have cooked Aussie treats, including Anzac biscuits, painted the national flag and learned about the country’s animals, weather and lifestyle.
Deputy manager Angela Todd said: “We do activities every year as one of our staff members, Kellie, is from Australia.
“It’s also about giving the children an opportunity to learn about other cultures and put some sun into their January.
“Usually we would have a BBQ too but because of the restrictions we haven’t been able to.”
Ms Todd added that the nursery is the only place where the children can interact with each other due to this month’s lockdown.
“Nursery allows them to see their friends which helps keeps their spirits up,” she said.
“We want parents to know that we are here for them and their children.”
