Cheers to more success as Redditch's Champagne Express vies for top award

AN AWARD-winning restaurant owner is over-the-moon after being nominated for yet another prize.

Champagne Express owner Abdul Ullah says he can’t wait to attend the Asian Restaurants Awards 2019 in Manchester this Sunday, June 23.

His restaurant, which is known for its unique menu and quirky Motown and Elvis Presley nights, was put forward by its customers.

“We would absolutely love to win, it would mean the world,” he said.

Abdul says he will take his wife to the ceremony this year after taking his daughter and colleagues to previous ones in the past.

The restaurant, based on Unicorn Hill, has picked up various awards over the years, including the ‘Good Food Award’ for the fourth year running and the TripAdvisor ‘Hall of Fame’.

In 2017 Champagne Express battled its way past thousands of other UK restaurants to reach the grand final of the Asian Curry Awards in London.

“This will be the first time we have attended the Asian Restaurants Awards however,” said Abdul, “and we can’t wait.

“We rely heavily on local support so I’d like to thank everyone who nominated us.

“We always try to give back to the Redditch community whenever we can.”
