Charity's call for nominees for Triangle Awards from Redditch

Redditch Editorial 5th Jan, 2022   0

THE charity Young Solutions is looking for nominations from Redditch for The Tryangle Awards.

Young Solutions is an independent county based organisation and the aim of the awards is to celebrate the efforts and achievements of local young people.

Now in their 17th year, they recognise the efforts of those who, despite health, disability or social problems, manage to overcome adversity at home, at school or college, or within the community.

The awards will culminate in a presentation evening at Worcester Bosch in March 2022, offering a great opportunity to highlight the efforts and achievements of Worcestershire’s young people, who achieve against the odds, show commitment and resolve and really make a difference.

Previous award recipients include a young volunteer at a sports club, another to a young lady who helped younger dancers at a dance school and another who received an award for being a dedicated carer of her younger brothers and sisters.

Nominations can come from teachers, social workers, youth workers, police officers, health professionals, parents, friends and anyone who wants to say ‘well done’ to a young person.

The Tryangle Awards particularly welcomes nominations for young people aged 11 to 19 (or up to 24 years with a disability) who have had to overcome personal, health or other adversities.

Previous award winners include young people who have been homeless or unemployed or have experienced difficulties with their own or a family member’s health.

There are six award categories for individual young people or groups of young people: Bravery, Arts or Music, Good Friends and Carers, Sports, Personal Development and the Peter Pinfield Award for Citizenship and Environment.

There is also an Adult Volunteer Award (18+), which recognises the outstanding contribution and effort that adult volunteers make to our clubs and communities in Worcestershire, keeping activities going and providing fantastic support to children and young people.

This year has been particularly challenging, with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected children and young people in many different ways.

Young people quickly adapted to the restrictions and some have been helping in the local community to deliver food and other essential items to more vulnerable people including neighbours, friends and family.

Others have held music concerts live from their homes to lift the spirits of people who have been staying at home under the Covid-19 guidance.

Nominations for the 2022 Tryangle Awards are now open with a closing date of Sunday, February 27 at 5pm.
