CHAMPAGNE Express owner Abdul Ullah says he is filled with joy after winning ‘Best Indian Restaurant in the West Midlands’.
The popular eatery, based by the railway station, added to its already-brimming trophy cabinet with yet another win last Sunday.
This time it was at the Asian Restaurants Awards 2019 ceremony, held in Manchester.
Abdul and his wife travelled north expecting to leave empty-handed.
He said: “I told my wife on the way there ‘don’t expect anything’.
“We couldn’t believe it when our small restaurant was announced.
“We had such a fantastic time, perhaps too much, because we didn’t get back until 2am the next day and I was in bed until 1pm!”
Abdul puts the win down to their ‘lucky’ table number on the night – 28, the same as their family home and the many people who voted for Champagne Express.
“Thank you to all our lovely customers who keep us going,” said Abdul.
