Cash hand outs as Tablers donate money raised from Santa Sleigh run

A RECORD amount of money was given away by Alcester & Stratford District Round Table to local charities and groups after collecting over 14 nights with their Santa Sleigh.

Round Table took Santa to Alcester, Bidford, Lower Quinton, Meon Vale, Welford, Stratford and Studley covering more miles than ever before.

More than 20 groups volunteered over the two weeks to help collect and spread Christmas cheer, sometimes in challenging conditions. With snow falling on the Welford night, contending with ice in Stratford and having the Lower Quinton route cancelled due to treacherous conditions, to be rescheduled onto the end of the two weeks.

Raising a total of £6,700 Alcester & Stratford District Round Table hosted an evening at The Holly Bush in Alcester to give the money to the groups, which included, Friends of St Nicholas School Alcester, Alcester First Responders, Stratford Citizens Advice Bureau and Bidford Juniors FC.

Chairman Rob Iles said: “It was fantastic to see so many people over the 14 nights come to their doors to see Santa, it really makes it worthwhile seeing the excitement on faces when the sleigh pulls up and I’m really proud of the amount raised.”

Rob Bradley, Chief Elf, said “It takes a lot of planning and organising every year to bring Santa to the area and I’d like to thank the members who refurbished our sleigh, all our members and the groups who all helped us bring the magic of Christmas to the streets again this year.

“Every year we get requests to cover more areas and with more members we can increase the number of nights we can take the sleigh out, for more information about joining Round Table, please visit www.roundtable.co.uk or call 0121 456 4567 – also search for us on Facebook.”
