Call for volunteers to help shape future of Redditch's new Rubicon Leisure

THE brand new company shaping the future of leisure and cultural services in Redditch is inviting applications to sit on its board.

Rubicon Leisure is looking to appoint non-executive directors to sit on its executive board and have a say in the new company’s business planning and strategic direction.

“We are keen to appoint people who share the company’s vision to help people who live in, work in and visit Redditch to enjoy the leisure and cultural services on offer here,” said Jayne Pickering, executive director of finance and resources for Redditch Borough Council.

“This is a new and exciting journey and we need talented, dedicated, passionate and creative individuals who can contribute to the leisure offer of the town to help deliver a sustainable business that has the ability to grow and flourish.”

The non-executive directors will sit on Rubicon Leisure’s seven-member board to help plan the future of the business, but will not be involved in the day-to-day management of the organisation.

The chair of the board will be appointed from the non-executive Directors.

The general responsibilities of the role include helping shape the company’s vision and strategy, contributing skills, experience and contacts to the team, and attending board meetings and carrying out the functions of the board.

All that’s required is attend one two-hour weekday evening board meeting quarterly, in Redditch, on a day to be decided by the non-executive directors, plus time reading and scrutinising meeting papers, although there is likely to be a period when meetings are more frequent during early 2019 as Rubicon Leisure establishes itself.

It is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

The role is not open to councillors or council employees, and other standard exclusions apply.

A recruitment pack is available at www.redditchbc.gov.uk/rubiconleisure or email Sarah Carroll on [email protected] or call 01527 64252.

The deadline for completed applications is 12noon on Friday February 8, 2019.
