CAB to offer financial help

Redditch Editorial 30th Apr, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

FREE independent financial advice is once again going to be available to the people in Redditch.

The news follows the awarding of a £75,000 grant from the borough council to Bromsgrove’s Citizens’ Advice Bureau after the local branch closed in February.

The money was originally secured by the Redditch branch for 2015/16, but its closure meant the funding was reopened with the bid from Bromsgrove CAB scoring the most points.

It means services and information on welfare benefits, housing, debt, immigration and employment will all be provided.

Sonia Hambidge, chief officer of Bromsgrove CAB said: “We greatly appreciate the commitment of Redditch borough council to funding advice services.

“This grant will now enable us to deliver our information and advice services in Redditch, from several locations.

She added: “Our longer term vision is to provide an advice centre in Redditch which will have its own centrally located and accessible office base as well as outreach provision in other areas of the borough.”

The service will operate from Redditch town hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.30am to 3pm from Tuesday, May 5 and from the Winyates Wellbeing Centre on Mondays and Thursdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm, shortly to be expanded.
