Bookful of anecdotes keeps choir on song through lockdown

Redditch Editorial 8th May, 2021   0

A NEW book has been keeping members of Alcester Male Voice Choir in touch during lockdown.

The volume was the brainchild of the choir’s founder and director of music Judith Land BEM in answer to the ban on singing which came into force last March, 14 months ago.

Her idea was a book which filled with witty anecdotes, cherished memories, illustrations, photographs, poems and songs, all submitted by choir members, their families and friends.

The book also incorporates a photographic history of the choir together with listings of all members both past and present.

“I have never published a book before, so it presented a challenge for me.

But as expected the choir members rallied to my call with enthusiasm and I am delighted with the finished product.

“It will also serve as a permanent reminder of one of the most challenging periods of our lifetimes.”

The book, ‘Lockdown Anecdotes’ is A4 format, published in full colour and contains some 140 images and runs to more than 70 pages. Copies are available direct from Judith on 07886 139781 and cost £9.95 each plus £4 post and packing.
