Bloomin' great: Alcester gardens open to raise funds for Cancer Research UK

HELP raise vital money to combat cancer at the Alcester and District Friends’ annual Garden Walkabout.

It’s happening this Sunday, June 16 and is the district’s biggest fundraiser for the charity.

In the region of 20 gardens will be open to visitors this year and all at a bargain price of £5.

Featuring gardens both large and small, it’s also an opportunity for visitors to take a peak round the back of ssome of the historic market town’s frontages as well as drop in on the Malt Mill Lane area and st Nicholas Church which are both take part.




There will also be lots of plants for sale and of course teas, refreshments and ice cream will all be available.

Admission is from 12noon to 5pm and everyone is welcome to come on down and do their bit for cancer research.


Meanwhile eight fabulous private gardens are being opened up in Withybed Green, Alvechurch on behalf of the fundraising National Garden Scheme.

The big day is on Sunday, June 30 from 1pm to 6pm and admission is £5.

Withybed Green is off Withybed Lane over the canal in Alvechurch – postcode B48 7LP – and all eight of the gardens offer something different.

Tickets are available from any of the gardens, refreshments will be available at the New Smithy and dogs are allowed.
