A LOCAL fundraising group is celebrating raising more than £1,700 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Over two days volunteer collectors at Morrisons superstore in Redditch collected a staggering total of £1,705.21 from customers keen to boost Macmillan’s vital work supporting people living with cancer.
For nearly two years, the Redditch fundraising group have been unable to run face-to-face collections, due to Covid 19 restrictions. However, a similar collection last November saw the gradual return of fundraising by Redditch and other local groups, and raised over £1,000.
The Redditch group has a remarkable track record, being one of the few local groups to have raised more than £1million since it was established 25 years ago.
Group member Sonia Tudor, who is also an ambassador for Macmillan Cancer Support, was absolutely delighted with the outcome.
She said: “When you think of the rising cost of living, and pressures on household budgets, we were blown away – once gain – by the generosity of Morrisons’ customers.
“We also want to thank Morrisons Redditch for giving us this opportunity to collect funds for our charity.”
The group is always seeking new volunteers. Interested? E-mail: [email protected]
