A KIND-HEARTED girl from Redditch has received a Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister after being nominated by town MP Rachel Maclean.
Esmee Allured, aged seven, was recognised by Boris Johnson after collecting hundreds of toys to give out to local children who might otherwise not have had presents at Christmas.
Esmee was inspired to share acts of kindness around Christmas to help return the kindness she has received during multiple stays in hospital.
Not only that but she also sold some of her own toys – raising £150 – and gave the money to a local charity to buy meals for people in need at Christmas.
She is the first recipient from Redditch to be awarded one of the Prime Minister’s Points of Light award.
Launched in 2014, the Points of Light award recognises outstanding individual volunteers – people who are making a change in their community.
Esmee’s mum, Amy Killick, wrote to Mrs Maclean last month to make her aware of her daughter’s acts of kindness.
The MP then sent a letter to Esmee to congratulate her and also sent one to Mr Johnson to ensure Esmee received the recognition she deserved.
As a result the PM recognised Esmee with a Point of Light award and has himself written to Esmee personally.
“After Esmee’s mum wrote to me about her daughter’s acts of kindness, I knew Esmee needed to be recognised for all that she has done to help those less fortunate than her.
“I am thrilled she has received the Prime Minister’s Points of Light award – making her the first ever recipient from Redditch.
“Rightly, Esmee’s mum is incredibly proud of her daughter, but everyone in Redditch should be proud of her too.”
Amy said: “I am so immensely proud of my daughter Esmee. She has faced so many of her own battles during her life including multiple operations and hospital admissions.
“Despite this she has gone above and beyond to think of others in a less fortunate situation than her. She makes me proud every single day.”
