Best ever - Alcester Royal British Legion break fundraising record

Correspondent 19th Apr, 2018

RECORD breaking members of Alcester Royal British Legion are holding their final poppy appeal fundraiser for 2017/18 next Saturday, April 28.

The branch has so far raised a staggering £16,100, breaking all local records.

“We have a dedicated team of volunteers in the Town who every year distribute and collect the poppy boxes,” said organiser David Malin.

“We are also very lucky to have an army of poppy people who collect in the shops and streets.

“Without their support the total raised would be much smaller.”

He added: ” “The Alcester Army Cadet Force has been tremendous and have raised more than £1,000 just by themselves by collecting in the street.

“I want to thank everyone involved in the appeal and everyone in the town that makes a donation. Every penny counts.”

The event next Saturday will be a coffee morning at The Church House from 10am until midday.
