THIS was the slithering scene which greeted Astwood Bank resident Julia Sealey on Sunday.
She was surprised to see a grass snake calmly making its way through her back garden.
Julia told the Standard: “I was shocked and a little bit scared to be honest when I saw it out the corner of my eye.
“I had been watching Deadly 60 that morning and they were talking about the snakes we get in the UK but I didn’t expect to see one just hours later.”
She added it was a lot longer than she expected and admitted it was ‘stunning to look at’.
“My son, who is nine, was blown away – he was a lot braver than me.
“I thought it was someone’s pet which had escaped.
“I can’t believe we have these in the wild and I haven’t seen one before.”
